Rita Kalra - President
Rita founded Benefit Consulting Group in January 1990. She has been in the retirement plans business since March of 1976, and witnessed and participated in the initial implementation of ERISA rules. Rita has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and thrives when working with numbers and finding creative solutions to retirement plan issues for her clients. Benefit Consulting Group has flourished under her guidance and leadership becoming one of the most trusted TPA firms in Southern California. Our clients are long term clients, many of whom have been with us for over 25 years.
Rita lives in Huntington Beach, CA and enjoys history and international traveling.
Vikram Kalra - Vice President
Vikram earned his bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara and has a diverse background in research, IT, and business. He has worked in human resources for over seventeen years, fourteen of them with Benefit Consulting group. Vikram wears a multitude of hats as the company’s Vice President, including operations and strategy, business development, information technologist, personnel hiring and development, marketing, and plan administration and consulting with audit assistance as needed. Vikram has overseen the continued growth in Benefit Consulting Group’s plans under administration, and with the scalability of our technology platform, we expect to see continued growth in the years to come.
Vikram is a dedicated husband and a father of two humans and two dogs, living in Rossmoor, CA. He coaches his son's football team, enjoys discussing theoretical and particle physics with his daughter, and loves a good IPA. .
Robert Mitchell - Enrolled Actuary
Bob serves as the leading technical resource and defined benefit specialist for Benefit Consulting Group. With pension experience dating from 1971, he qualified as an enrolled actuary from the first day of ERISA passage in 1974. His experience includes all sizes and types of defined benefit programs, including more than 21 years working with cash balance plans. He has previously served as the chief actuary of a large pension administration firm overseeing a staff of 4 actuaries. Bob has been a regular contributor to tax education programs based on his experience with tax-driven programs, as well as benefit driven plans. He has worked with union-negotiated plans, conglomerates, non-profits, professional service firms, and many other plan sponsors.
Bob lives in Downey, CA and is very active in his fraternal and social organizations.
Sadaf Tahery - Director of Operations
Sadaf started as a part time office manager and transitioned to full time upon graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in finance. During her eight years (and counting) with Benefit Consulting Group, she has mastered the full cycle administrative process, handles complicated cases including those requiring significant corrective actions, and continues to manage all aspects of business operations.
Sadaf lives in Irvine, CA and adores her 11 year old Maltese/Shitzu.
